Let's go through the route from start to finish.

Start to University of the Witwatersrand

The corner of Judith Road and Hill Street will be the starting point for the special 25km Walk on Sunday 28 July from 6:45am.

Savour the experience of walking where you normally drive. It's on the flyover bridge that you should fully experience the winter sunrise. What a chance to catch up with friends!

Enter University of Witwatersrand off Empire Rd and strut through the West Campus as students do. Stop at the Great Hall steps and be sure to take a jumping picture - you might want to practice for this.

Nelson Mandela Bridge to Constitution Hill

It’s a quick walk from Wits down to the Nelson Mandela Bridge. When else you will you get to walk on this iconic bridge with your bestie? Seize the opportunity and take a stroll on this striking City of Joburg attraction.

The Inner City Metro Park is your next stop – not for relaxation or to spend time with the quirky locals! Hit the water point for refreshment then hit the road.

Cross the Queen Elizabeth Bridge and head up Jorissen Street into trendy Braamfontein - as it wakes. Be wowed by the new Johannesburg City Council Chamber on your way to Constitution Hill.

The 8km mark on the new 25km route sees you at Constitution Hill. Take in the history, architecture and art. You might even pop your head into the Constitutional Court!

Parktown to Johannesburg Zoo

You’ll NEVER have enough time for Con Hill! Eventually, you’ll have to leave but be sure to revisit at another time. You’ll know you are in Parktown when you walk past Mike’s Kitchen – a landmark building dating back since 1905.

You’ll hit Oxford Street with the M1 on your left side. Exit Oxford and walk the wide, shaded streets of aptly named Forest Town - towards the Johannesburg Zoo.

The Zoo is one of Joburg’s most popular attractions. The #MTN702Walk 25km route will remind all participants why this is the case, as they’ll all get to walk right through it!

Anglo Boer War Memorial to Saxonwold

Beyond the Zoo, you’ll walk past the Anglo Boer War Memorial towards art deco filled Killarney. Skirt Houghton along Cotswold Drive before heading back towards Saxonwold.

Zoo Lake to the finish

If you find the famous Saxonwold shebeen, let us know! But if you don’t, exit the suburb over Jan Smuts Ave into picturesque Zoo Lake park. Savour the moment, this marks around 5kms to go

A quick walk through leafy Parktown, and past the Dale Lace Park, you’ll find yourself walking along Barry Hertzog, and back into the Emmarentia neighbourhood onto the finish line.

Entries for the special 25km walk are limited and we suggest that you enter today, to avoid disappointment.
